Final Fantasy Anthology
Hey guys, I read through the previous posts in this forum and I don't think there was a thread for this but if there was or I'm posting in the wrong place I apologize.
I was thinking of buying the FF Anthology compilation for playstation that comes with V and VI. Basically I just wanted to know if you think it is worth it to buy that version?

It was nice to play them on my PS1/PS2 instead of a handheld like I did when I first finished it, but the load times are much longer than those on the SNES to the point of possible annoyance. I did not get that far on it, but these may make the timed sequences harder. My copy also tended to lag, especially before Sabin's Blitzes, but this was probably only my copy.
The added features-bestiary, concept art, cinemas, and so on-really were nice in thought but rather extraneous in practice.
It's not the greatest of versions (though it is the original dialog, unlike the GBA version), but besides the load times, I would say the Anthology is worth buying.

Anthology was IV and V, not V and VI.
Also, don't waste your money; they're both terrible. Just buy VI because it's far superior.

No, it was FFV and FFVI. At least, in America anthology contains FFVI and FFV. I think there's a whole import fuckup kind of thing with it, but I never remember FFIV being on PSX.
To clarify, IV = 4 and VI = 6, right?
But I say nay. It's a lot cheaper to just download an emulator and get some games, being that Final Fantasy IV - VI are on the easiest emulator to use.

Oh right. The PAL release of Anthology had IV and V, with VI being released separately.
And yes, IV = 4 and V = 5.

I loved playing FF Anthology. It was technically the first FF game I bought.
Since it was reformatted for the PS1, each game has a new CGI intro, but other than that, it appears to be the same as the original SNES version.

Yes people, the US version of Anthology had V and VI! IV was released as part of the Chronicalls package along with Chrono Trigger. In Europe we had IV and V in Anthology with VI being released separately but with a demo of X. Chronicalls was never released here.
But back on topic. If you don't have access to a SNES these versions are very much worth getting But because they are direct ports of the original game, the load times are dire and the screens can look abit odd at times. However they do come with lot's of extras like new CGI intro's/outro's, Artwork, other stuff....which is good if you are interested in it but otherwise it is exactly the same as the original SNES versions.
Personally though I cant stand the lag, if I want to play the original version of the games I just use a SNES emulator

If you can, buy the GBA versions of FFV and FFVI, and wait for the DS version of FFIV. Simply because they have more stuff added to them, but otherwise, Anthologys worth it, as FFVI is a brilliant game.

I can't stand the lag. ; I was lucky to grab a copy (SNES) for $10, and I went through the game as fast as I could~~
This is the last one I need on GBA, so I can't comment on that aspect...

I guess it depends if you don't mind playing it on playstation or SNES emulator. I'd say that Anthology is worth it though since it has VI, and many people declare it is one of the best game in the series. I haven't finished the game yet, but so far it's not that bad at all, despite the lag.
