Biggs and Wedge?
In ff6 at the beginning right after the big intro. 2 guys named Biggs and Wedge come in, then later in the game they get wiped out. And then in FF7 biggs and wedge are there again at the beginning. so it is very weird.

Biggs and Wedge are in a lot of FF's (I can't remember where they were in FFIX though). It's just like there's always a Cid, there's always Chocobo's and always Cactuars etc. There's nothing more to read into it.

FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFXII. Don't think they where in FFIX. I don't think they actually say much in FFX but can get them on your Blitzball team and in FFXII they aren't quite Biggs and Wedge but "Gibbs and Deweg". I would have prefered Biggs and Wedge though.

In Nalbina Fortress. I think they are guarding the path to the Mosphoran Highwaste.

yeah biggs and wedge are one of those reoccuring things that final fantasy brings back in most final fantasies. in VI theyre empire soldiers, in VII theyre AVALANCHE members, in VIII theyre galbadian soldiers, i dont think they exist in IX.. in X theyre blitzball players and in XII theyre called gibbs and deweg and theyre nalbina soldiers.

Lol... A good set of recurring characters in my opinion, but yeah to the best of my knowledge, they are not in IX.
There are other recurring sets like, Cid, Boko & Gilgamesh

Mog.
Also, KAIN! (Including his surname).
Ricard Highwind (FFII) has a son named Kain. FFIV Kain Highwind became a Dragoon because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father. A Kain also appears in FFIX. Also the surname aswell as Ricard and Kain. Cid in FFVII's surname is Highwind aswell as his airship.
