That's the version I bought and played, and it was well worth it. My only complaint was the slow loading times before and after battles, but I hear the GBA versions are a lot faster.

I prefer the PS1 version with the Anthology compilation more because I'm more a fan of Console gaming as opposed to handhelds, but I think you'll enjoy it no matter what due to the amazing stories.

well i ended up getting the anthology version and its great so far,(just started V, couple hours in), i haven't even noticed the loading time thing really, but then again i never played the NES version so i wouldn't know how much faster it is

Yeah no problem and I hope you enjoy it. I played through FFV first then got into FFVI.

The only time I really noticed the loading times was after completing Antholgy on the PSX, then going to FFIV on the GBA. The GBA's loading times are quick as hell, but still the Anthology COmpilation is great. Once again, enjoy!

i personally enjoy the gba versions a lot more. probably because i like to take my handheld systems like everywhere^^
