I can't remember FFIX too well; it's been more than 2 years since I last played it.
Zidane's trance was pure power; how can you not like that?
I like Amarant's 'cause I think his trance was his Chakra abilities, but could be multi-targeted
Steiner became an actual knight in his trance
Viv was double cast, and the rest I don't really remember.

I thought that Zidanes were the most powerful, as they were doing 9999 in late disk 2 for me, but this is probably because he's the main character...
I found Vivi and Steiners Trance modes useful too, especially later in the game. Although, you could argue that Steiners becomes useless when he can hit for 9999 anyway...

I never used Steiner because I found him to be useless in my party.
I did think Freya's trance was very stupid. =/. I hated alot of the Trance's except for like Vivi, Zidane, and Amarant.

I quite like Vivi's trance. I mean, for him to cast two consecutive magic attack is pretty damn helpful during battle. Zidane's "Dyne" is also very appealing since it is very powerful. Can't really beat that.

Zidane looked like an idiot in trance, I just don't like it 
I really like Eikos though, her wings look gewd, Steiners just looks scary, I really likle Vivi's, his hat looks all cute when it's pointy
I don't get Garnets eidolon trance though, i didn't notice anything different in attack power. Im sure eikos will be more useful later on.....Vivi's is good, until I run out of MP 
Zidanes is great and Quinas is pretty epic aswel, although once I have learned all the eat command thingies it will just be....useless :S

I quite like Zidane's appearance in Trance - very similar to Kuja's own. My favourite is probably Freya though.
FYI Hips, Garnet's Trance ability is when she summons an Eidolon, that same Eidolon will appear in increments until her gauge is depleted. The periodical attack isn't very strong in comparison to regular summoning though, so it's pretty poo. Not too bad for additional damage though, on the whole.

Oh that makes more sense then, although it's not happened yet, I only ever seem to get trances when I don't want them, usually right at the end of a battle when I don't have the chance to use them, which sucks
I haven't seen Amarants yet either seeing as I don't have him yet. I still haven't decided whether I think Garnet looks nekkid in her trance form, still looks gewd though >_>

I think Kuja looks better in his trance forum, better then any playable character really.
