Wow@synthing pumice pieces together before fighting Ozma as opposed to after. You know that by equipping someone with one of the pumice pieces negates a very large part of Ozmas arsenal, right?

Yeah I did that exact same thing. Ooops. I didn't even use Ark against Ozma so it was pointless! i thought about using the hammer to break them into pieces again but hey ho!

I only didn't get Ark. Guess I never get all summons in any FF...
For some reason, I didn't very like to use summons in this game, don't know why.
I think they weren't as useful as in other FFs (aside of FFXII in which they were totally useless). Or maybe it is because I over used them in FFVIII...
Anyway, my favorite one in this game was Leviathan. Simply because he did more damage then the others (At least in my case)

I got all of them apart from Ark. I used Garnet's summons the most, because I see them as like, her form of black magic, and I much prefer her to Eiko. Never had a problem with not having access to Eiko's summons anyway, since I always used Garnet, and not Eiko.

Summons 
Ark is always the last one I learn,and I always learn him before fighting Ozma which means I synth the Pumice Pieces together. 
Bahamut, Alexander, Titan, and Ramuh were really cool.
