I think I better clear this up. I beat the game twice, once with the hammer and once without.
The line about cloud and squall is ALWAYS there. Having the hammer with you adds one extra scene to the play. For those who've seen it and didn't realise what was new then here it is:
Remember that Blank betrays Marcus and the girl (name?) to the King (Baku)? In the scene Blank tells Baku that marcus and his daughter are planning on escaping. Baku says something along the lines of 'You betrayed your best friend so how do I know you won't betray me?' and then kills Blank.
You don't see this scene if you don't have the hammer.
Apparently (but I'm not too sure about this) you see ANOTHER extra scene if you have the sword 'Save the Queen' with you.

So what is the other scene, I already have Cinna's Hammer but not 'Save the Queen' sword. I'm just wondering if its worth getting sword.

You dont get Save the Queen at all, only Beatrix can use that sword. You can get Excalibur and Excalibur 2 for Steiner, but thats it. Of course you can always use a gameshark so you can get beatrix in your party, but that wont give you a secret ending.
As for the secret ending...yeah, it's just that one extra scene, kind of a ripoff...but not really, because it is well worth the time to collect all the stellazzio since you get lotsa good items and money from it.

I didn’t know about this… I remember hearing something about a Blackjack game that could be unlocked in the ending, but I’m not to sure how true that is. Anyway, I’ll have to remember this the next time I replay IX.

The blackjack game is true. You just enter a code sequence at the very end of the game after the credits. Look elsewhere for the code.

To clear this up for people asking about FFIX on PSP, I believe you can download the game off bittorrents (don't know, never looked, and I don't suggest it... it's illegal) and play it on a psp with custom firmware. Or perhaps they have a downloadable version of FFIX from Sony because apparently they are doing this thing where you can download PS1 games for psp online through your PS3. Again I don't know for sure because I don't have a PS3..... just read a few articles about it.

I'm pretty sure that you can forge a Save the Queen sword with synthesis. You can't use it; nor can you use Cinna's hammer. They're both useless items.
