99.99% of the time, the "Data's Corrupted" error message is caused from the use of a cheat device editing a character's stats or item count. Now, because a cheat device loads games using it's own boot ROM (bypassing the PS1 or PS2's ROM), save files can and often do become corrupt.
Actually, the save file isn't ruined, it just has a conflicting set information with it's original checksum file. Basically, if you can get a hold of a PS1 cheat device (anyone will do), you'll be able to load that corrupted file using a Checksum Bypass Code.
