I like Paladin better. I don' really have a good reason, I just do.

Prefer cecil to be a paladin rather than a dark knight. When he's a dark knight his dark ability took some hp in order to attack all enemies. That's a strong technique but I don't like the fact that you have to give up hp to to do that. If you use the dark ability to get rid of most of the weaker enemies then when you run into a strong one Cecil will be to weak to do anything. At least the Paladin heal people when he has to.

You can always use another party member to heal him up though.

I'll have to say he was better at being a paladin. Although it would have been better if he had a better skill besides cover. And he should have had more white magic.

Honestly his cover skill saved my ass quite a few times.

But yeah, i'd definately prefer to have Cecil as a Paladin. Sure he could
whipe out alot of enemies all at once, but it required sacrificing some of
his HP. Which definately made a problem. Plus as a Paladin, he is able
to weild Excalibur. The weapon made him all powerful. xD

Another point to be considered is that paladin Cecil DID beat up Dark Knight Cecil...Can't have no mamby bamby butt-kicked to the curb main character now.

We should have the option to choose which one we should want and that theres equal equipment for both sides
