It was the first Final Fantasy game I played, and the first RPG I played (second, if you count The Adventure of Link); I was hooked from the start of the blue screen and theme music, really. I dug the feel and look of the game, and still think highly of it.

i have always liked the ffi on any of the systems it was on i think it might be the fact it is just a good game

Where to start... How about the flashing and crackling sound when bosses were defeated?

I loved having the ninja... He could fight better with his hands than with weapons!!! I killed Chaos in one turn!

The idea that characters "grow up" was a great idea. I miss some of the originality of games like FF1 - back when these things were still "new and exciting".

I was one of the nerdy kids that took a picture of the TV and sent it into Nintendo Power when I beat the game....


I also remember thinking how I couldn't wait for the next FF game. I've been thinking the same thing for 20 years now!

I first played it in 2004 (I think) on the PSX re-release. It seemed a poor game compared to what I was used to, but I did enjoy seeing the series roots and the little references to later games. Completing the game was hard and I didn't enjoy it, I'll be honest. I just wanted to complete it to be able to say I've done it, in the end coming home in about 40hrs.
