I don't think you get a post count in this section. 
In IX, the only way to get 9999 damage at that level is by using Frog Drop, or Zidane's Trance abilities. I don't see how it can be anything else. =/ |

Though now that I think about it, you can't get all of Zidane's Trance abilities at this point. And even if you did, you wouldn't deal max damage. Frog Drop is the only way unless you cheat.

yeah, that has to be it, unless there is a way to get ultima weapon at the early stages of the game and high magic armour and add ons for zidane?

... how would armour affect overall damage? Also, you need the Ocean Chocobo (I think...) in order to get Zidane's Ultima Weapon. Impossible to get at any stage before the obtaining of said Chocobo.

the armour that affects magic power, i know vivi and dagger can get it and i am sure zidane gets it for his trance moves

Very few pieces of armour which Zidane can equip enhance his magic/spirit. Even so, they won't increase the damage he deals by much at all.

I know for a fact that using a Dark Matter on an enemy deals 9999, and Dagger can kind of easily get it at or even before level 18.
As for an ability...beats me.

It is possible to complete the game at level 1, so anything in the game is possible. There are loads of ways to do 9999 damage at level 1, let alone 18. Thievery and Frog Drop being the obvious examples, but I think Limit Glove works too. You could use Dark Matter, throw a whole plethora of items with Amarant, throw Gil, play through the game at level 1 and get doomsday, use Steiner's Shock, Beatrix' Shock, the list is damn long and this thread is completely fecking pointless.
