The Identity Of Gogo
So Gogo is the mysterious character you meet in the WOR right?
Many have speculated that s/he is Daryl Setzer's ex-girlfriend.
Another theory is that Gogo is actually the return of Emperor Gestahl, last seen being thrown off the floating contintent by Kefka. That Emperor Gestahl also wore large robes, knew many magical abilities, and would have a grudge against Kefka might support this.
Yet another common theory is that Gogo is Shadow/Clyde's former partner Baram. Through Shadow's dreams, you are brought to assume that Baram is dead, though you never actually see it happen.
One theory that is essentially illogical, but still of note for completion's sake, is that Gogo is actually General Leo. Support for this is little, far between, and some could even say non-existant however. A more likely theory along the same lines is that he is Vicks or Wedge, but, surprisingly, the General Leo one is far more popular.
One very, very possible theory is that Gogo is Banon. You never see what happens to him in the World of Ruin, and there are many similarities between the two characters in appearance.
Another theory is that Gogo is Gilgamesh, a recurring character in the series. This is debunked by the fact that both these characters appeared in Final Fantast V.
A more likely possibility is that Gogo is the same Gogo that appeared as a secret boss in Final Fantasy V, guarding the crystal shard that granted the Mime job. When defeated, Gogo falls in to a time/space warp of some sort, and some players think he may have been sent to the world of Final Fantasy VI.
Personally i like to think that Gogo is the emperor what do you think?

Well I am totally against the fact that Gogo is Baram, because not only did Baram die after the Train Heist attempt, but I believe that Baram would have come out and said something to Shadow sometime between the time you obtain Gogo and the end of the game.
I just think "it's" a randomly picked up character like Umaru was. Gogo's gender is questionable. I doubt it's Daryl too because..well Daryl died as well. Everyone that is bascially speculated is dead. Not coming back. Never. No emporor.
I do have to say though that the ending dsequence as Gogo is leaving the tower after you beat the end of the game, is freaking hilarious. Poor Gogo. Heh heh heh...

Gogo is Gilgamesh? Pshh. That theory's been destroyed by Gilgamesh's appearence in FF6A.
I'm for Gogo being from FFV. If you've completed FFV, and done some sidequests in FFs 8, 9 and I assume 12, you'll know that Gilgamesh was sent to the Void, and then reappeared, from the void, in FF8. Unknown where he comes from to get to FF9, but he does. And FF12... well, someone else can fill in the gaps here.
But if that theory's right, the Void allows whoever gets sent to it to jump in between worlds. What's to stop Gogo from jumping from FF5 to FF6?

lol Yes, the void. Cloud made a trip through there. He got lost in Ivalice during Tactics one year after he defeated Sephiroth. Then a year after he helped out in Ivalice, he got lost in Final Fantasy VIII. He lost his sword there... then somehow he managed his way back, got his first sword, then became a delivery boy (the bus boy job didn't work out - broke too many plates). THere was also a short thing as a waitress... but the people thought it was weird that he liked dressing up in girls clothing and... yea, it didn't last. Somewhere along the line though he met Zidane. I'm assuming in FFVIII before Zidane even had his adventures with Garnet. Maybe that's where Cloud got the money to pay for the First Sword... they did a heist together.

Haha.. Gogo mimicked so many ugly creatures that his offspring actually became a combination of all of them! Ta-da! Quina!

Another theory is that he is Adlai Stevenson
governor of illinois and lost, by landslides, in two races for president against Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956.
