Motion to limit access to sbox...
to members with a certain number of posts. I've had this discussion with a quite a few SBox regulars who are sick of 11 year olds registering, having 0 posts, and instantly spamming up the sbox because they don't know the rules nor do they have any common sense whatsoever. Maybe not 50 posts, like the RPG requires, but maybe 25ish.

I agree with the principal, but I don't think it should go on number of posts.
Access should be approved by the staff of the forum, based on what they see of the member's posts on the forum. The shoutbox should be a privilege, not a right.

On Topic: Yes, I agree. Having a restriction on SB chat makes things less chaotic. We wouldn't have complete noobs spamming and being complete idiots with zero post.
Also, It would increase post count because they would strive to get 50 to talk in the SB. Seems to me you guys get alot of New Members.

Seems like a good idea to me. Though it could quite easily become another reason for spammers to whore post-count areas just for access...

That would take copious amounts of unnecessary time to do. We'd need to deny everyone access to start with for this to be fair, and re-adding people would be incredibly tedious.

Well, Maybe you can also judge on Quality Posting? If their post count is 50 but they have spammed or whatnot then continue to restrict their access? At least until they show some decency around the forum.

I agree with Pooley, access should be given by forum staff or be a privelage to friends of Final Fantasy.

I understand how annoyingly tedious it would be, but how about appointing "Shoutbox Moderators" or something like that? They would go about the forum and check the quality of people's posts and approve / deny access.
Just an idea though.

It could be incredibly bias though. We'd need a unanimous staff decision to determine who has access and who doesn't, sheerly for the fact the person who's deny/giving permissions could like/dislike a particular person. The idea, in concept, is good, but it's far too inconsiderate.
And... shoutbox moderators? Interesting. Though not likely. |

Maybe you could have shoutbox rules. Break these rules and you get a warning, 3 warnings and your out.
