Yeah, that's a problem when search for threads. Members word threads differently. So while searching you think the thread would be called "Blah blah what is your blah blah" whatever, and instead the thread is named something else, but it's the same subject.
Also going through pages, and pages, and skimming through all of the old topics.

Although I think it's a good idea, I see Riku's point, it's much easier to do that, I've forgotten that there is a subscribe option :/, but I wont hurt to try.

I think some of you got the wrong idea. XD
The idea is just to have a thread that you can run to if:
+ you aren't sure that a thread already exists
+ you're looking for a general topic
+ the search option isn't giving you what you want
+ you never subscribed to the thread in the first place, and now you can't find it
So if you're looking for a thread, go to the "where's that thread" thread, and ask around! Someone is bound to be able to help you out! ^.^

This is why we can subscribe to threads, so I don't see the point. If that doesn't work, then check back through your posts until you find the thread.
But then again, why not try?

The only problem is you can't subscribe to a thread if you can't find it. The whole point of this is to make it easier to find certain threads. Once you find them you can subscribe to them.
Another good think I like with this is that if you are looking for a thread and no one can come up with if it exists or not, it makes it really easy for creations of new threads. I don't know about you, but sometimes I hate hunting around to look for if a thread was made on a certain topic.

If you have thread subscription switched on, then it automatically subscribes when you post, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
And isn't it your job to point people in the right direction for threads that have already been made and such like?
Another thought occurs too; the shoutbox. Most of the time, there's people active there, so if someone wants a quick reply to where a thread is, they can ask there.

What if you haven't posted in the thread yet, the subscribe isn't going to help you look for a thread which you haven't already posted in.
And I don't think the mods want their inboxes full of members asking "do you know where this thread is" and then we have to go around and search for them when we might not even know if it exists or not. And how many members PM mods to find out if there is a thread. Hardly ever, they just make it and we end up having to delete it if one like it already exists
Doing it in the shoutbox is an alright idea, but not everyone uses the shoutbox, and the shoutbox is by no way a very organized way to do it, expecially if you don't pay that much attention to the shout box, or if you general don't use it. And what if you ask your question, but then have to leave. You're going to have to come back later to ask the question again in the shoutbox and hope that someone will answer or even see it.

Use another method.

You got me wrong there. Let's face it, it's highly unlikely that new members are going to use the proposed thread, and are just going to go ahead and make a new one. It's then your job to point in them in the right direction. One could argue that as staff, it's your job to know what threads we already have. (As much as is possible).

See above point. It's not very likely that a lot of people will use the thread either.

But how do you know if we don't have it? Why not let a trial run of it first to see how it works out.
I mean some of you look at it as not needed because YOU don't need it, but what about the members who might need it. I would actually find it useful a lot since I find myself using the search this forum has and come up with anything but I want

This thread would be the other method since we don't have another method to find a thread besides the search feature which is unnreliable
