A newbie help section
Since the last thread turned into people bitching about not liking me or LOCP, I figure we'll try again.
I think a thread where more experianced members help less experianced members do things such as navigate the forums or write in a fasion that will leave them respected by their peers (whatever you think that may be). I don't think membership should be compulsory. I think that a new member should sign up. I have seen things like this work to great effect in the past. I think it would be a great idea, and if you could respond free of bias, it would be greatly appreciated.

Would you consider yourself to be an experienced member Sar? Would you actually help people on this help site, or not? From what I've seen you like to criticize people, would you stop doing that ever?

Yes, I would. Despite popular belief, I would like to see this forum do well. We may have different opinions on how best to do it, but that doesn't mean Democrats or Republicans are inherently bad people. If you don't like the way I post, get over it. Discussing whether I would ever decide to live in a world of marshmallows and rainbows is not what this thread is about. If you want that thread, make one called "Hey, Sar, would you ever want to live in a world that's full of marshmallows and rainbows?", but for now we're here to discuss if it's a good idea and can be implimented.

Well then. If you don't like the way a noob posts, then get over it.
You can gain respect, not by the way you write, but by how you treat other members. Respect comes from what you post, not how you post. You may believe your posts have good spelling and grammar, but that doesn't do anything for your reputation. As you can see, most of the forum hates your guts. As for helping members navigate, that's what the Library Headquarters are for. There are many stickied topics that cover how to navigate the forum and find stuff, and what some of the features of the forum are. And failing that, members can also ask the staff members or other more experienced members. I believe I've covered this from last time.
What you have suggested has already been implemented, one way or another in this forum. If you were getting at something else, I'm not sure I know what you mean. Or were you suggesting at having a thread for teaching members like you how to gain respect on forums like this?

I'm back and it seems tons of these threads have popped up. The threads consist of the same arguments, over and over. It's getting pretty tiresome to read, never mind you lot actually writing the posts. Other members don't have to help newer members, the staff and FFF System are here to do that. If you truly wanted the forums to do well, then you should end your protests on how they are run, they are doing your reputation more harm than good. Good forums consist of good members and, currently, you're not helping this cause very much. That's not specifically directed at you, just all of the members who have suddenly sprung up, dictating how they THINK the forums should be run.
Don't you lot get tired of repeating yourselves? Don't you realise that the staff and other members will NOT conform to your beliefs?

You clearly don't know these people at all.
They don't care if you don't conform to their beliefs, because they do (and have done) this on many, many forums, just to be a nuisance.
- dvent Children.net
- Eyes on Final Fantasy
- Final Fantasy Extreme
You name it, they've been there.
It doesn't matter if you say "No, we're not going to do it" a hundred times. They'll keep trying to "discuss their point", just out of the sheer boredom that is their lives.
Some staff members just say "No, it's not going to happen" and close threads once the point is made. That's how it SHOULD be done. It saves time, hassle, and drama that members don't want to see.
Want to help out newbies? Make a thread specifically geared towards helping them out, giving them direction around the place, and so forth... Oh wait! The forums already has one of those! Problem solved, me thinks.

Good point. Well, since I already covered that about this forums already having the section for helping out newbies, I don't see why this thread is still here. I'm going to close it.
