I seem to be doing a lot of this at the moment. But it's been difficult to adjust to the slower pace again; after two weeks of full-time work, suddenly going back to doing nothing again is strange. I have to keep writing my dissertation, but I haven't really gotten anywhere with it...well, I know what I need to add to my methodology now to finish it to my supervisor's expectations, I just need to get on with it...going to the library this morning to find some books for that purpose, although I'll probably write it up tomorrow.

I have a couple of weeks before he goes away on holiday, and I'd like to make some headway into my literature review during that time...2000 words seems reasonable. It'll be about 6000-7000 words when finished, so if I can do that, I should be able to finish it over August. I also need to look for more work, make a career's appointment tomorrow to decide where my future is going - if I have a future, and assuming it's going anywhere - and...oh, did I mention my grandparents are probably coming down over the weekend? Yay.

Anyone else in merry olde Englande been bombarded by random showers recently? It was raining remarkably hard yesterday for about 10 minutes every hour or so. It was quite entertaining watch people scurry for cover...it's been a bit busier than usual around her, since we've had a circus set up in the field for the last few days. Watching them try and get their over-sized trailers down the road was even funnier; they got stuck for about half an hour the day they arrived. They left last night...between 11pm and (I'm told, since it kept my mother awake) 2:30am. Fucking lorries, making a racket. They couldn't leave at a sensible hour...why, precisely? I think I was asleep before midnight - I definitely wasn't awake at half two - but listening to them humming outside was still aggravating...and someone phoned, as well. WTF. Has the entire world gone mad? Or are we all nocturnal now?

I'm not as tired as I should be, probably. Although I sleep fairly soundly most nights now...probably because I'm so tired when I go to bed anyway. But then, no sense trying to sleep when you're not tired.

On the plus side, I found the Atelier Ayesha OST this morning, as well as the accompanying Vocal Album, Twilight Hour. I'm still in the process of listening to it, although from what I've heard so far, it's...different. Not sure if this is better or worse than Meruru's OST yet, though. Although I absolutely LOVE Flower Guide, the opening theme, and most of the Twilight Hour songs are fantastic. I tend to avoid vocal albums...might have to give the other ones a look-in; I might have been missing out on something special.

Oh, and for anyone curious, because I lack the motivation to post as much at the moment, I'm currently playing Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 - my attention span is best suited to short mission-based gameplay at the moment - and still watching HeartCatch Precure, although Pandora Hearts and/or Mawaru Penguindrum will be my next anime. Still reading the Wheel of Time. The one I'm currently on - Crossroads of Twilight - has VERY low ratings on the Kindle Store. Apparently it's filler. Happy happy joy joy.

Blah blah blah, wasting time, blah. I need to go to the library.

I've considered starting The Wheel of Time series. How would you rate it overall? Why SHOULD I read it?

You shouldn't; you should read The Malazan Book of the Fallen instead, because it's a) complete, b) much better written, and c) not a stereotypical good-versus-evil story.

The WoT is a lot like Game of Thrones: people have made it out to be much better than it actually is. The writing isn't BAD, but there are infinitely better-written series out there. It jumps about quite a bit, although some characters are murderously boring to read about, and it's quite a predictable story. Jordan likes his filler a lot, as well. I'll confess I'm looking forward to getting to the books Sanderson has written, and I think he'll finish the series off better than Jordan ever could, but...well, it's not the high-class fantasy I was expecting.

The only reasons at the moment I can suggest for reading it are to satisfy your curiosity, and because Sanderson is finishing it up, and if he writes the ending to these books the way he wrote the Mistborn trilogy...
