Autism and asperger syndrome
here you can say your points on asperger syndrome and autism dont be offensive as there could be people with the said conditions on the forum and also i do have asperger syndrome and low levels of autism but although many are social outcasts we can be surprisingly intelligent
i say we as there are many people with them and i am in a school full of them
anyway post your comments on this and hopefully get the word about as most people say a large majority of autistic children/adults are 'retards' and 'freaks' among many other phrases i would rather not mention due to small childrens ears

I have a very close freind that works with Autistc people. Some of those people actually turn out extremly sucsessful in life. I have a freind also whose twin boys suffer from it and right now they are going through college to get a doctorate degree in physiology.
Some of them aren't so lucky though. They can become violent without notice and even go as far as doing things that are not for the faint of heart. Sad thing is they don't understand what they are doing and don't even know what the difference between right and wrong.

hmm most people in my school are like that too and some of them dont like others who have anger issues which may be beyond their control but can make people very angry and resentful towards them too especially the year 11s who are doing GCSE
Gatekpr where does vossler say that? it says that they cant understand and that is the sad thing as an autistic person myself i can relate to this

I wasn't referring to him actually saying what I just said, I was referring to them not knowing right from wrong and whatnot. If we cannot get inside of their heads and they lack the ability to communicate in a way that we can understand, how, exactly, do we know what they are thinking?

we dont they are very complex and very emotionally delicate also many people would consider their personality to be 'evil' because they cannot be quiet about certain things and are very literal such as if you said to an autistic person 'i am going to beat the shit out of you!' but not mean it they will automatically think you mean it and become scared of you and possibly distance themself from you

I won't try to hide the fact that I have autism. I won't. I'll embrace it. I think this thread was an incredible idea. Although disappointed I didn't start it, I'll gladly interact in it. So... what's up? I'm Kevin, and I have autism. Also, I am paralyzed from the waist down. I often have to sit at one of two places : my couch, or my computer desk. I'd appreciate if the questions were minimal, but, if you must, ask, and I will explain. So, yeah. I know what it's like. I'm just glad there's some others like me. I was beginning to think I was alone.
PS : I'm not a freak or anything, right?

Ogosh. One of my teachers once told me that she had a student with Asperger's syndrome and that she would sometimes grab scissors and chase other students, and that in one case, she did stab someone. =x
I actually know someone in my (in law) family who has a child with autism. It doesn't take an idiot to identify an autistic child. The kid is smart...really smart when he's playing. But...he's rolling over on 4 1/2 years old soon and he still has never said a single word. He has never spoken in his life. He doesn't respond to his own name. He does this thing where he rolls his head around constantly and shakes back and forth.
His parents took him to the doctor and recieved medicine which his mother overdoses him with so that he'll go to sleep and no one will notice. So...technically speaking the mother knows he has a dissorder, but she's too embarassed to seek help.

i try not to see autism as a disability, because some of them are pretty much geniuses... if most people can accept autistic people, then they'll probably be seen as gifted rather than having a disability
