He also mentions, while in Lucrecia's cave, that it was because of her that he survived. Vincent did survive, he didn't die. It's a possibility that he survived because he is immortal, I'll go with Faith on that one. Unfortunately it hasn't been revealed in the Reunion Files. They came out before Dirge did, so sadly no, but I think if Square wanted Vincent dead, we'd all know it.

I don't know about the guy being immortal. Based off him enduring severe wounds early on in the game (Yuffie notes this within the transport vehicle), I'd say that Chaos gave unto Vincent immense durability. Evidently, Chaos didn't need to be 'there' to endure any kind of damage. So Vincent being able to withstand such an explosion is entirely feasible. He still survived Hojo's barbaric experiments, so I'd say those alone made him somewhat resilient.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, it does state that Vincent is practically immortal. How do you think he was able to sleep all of those years and never age? Also the experiements that were performed on him were done by Lucrecia and not Hojo. She was doing the experiements on him to save his life after he was shot.

Compelling point. I had wondered. XD

Oh? I was under the distinct impression that Vincent was Hojo's "failed experiment," and Lucrecia's own experiment was performed after Hojo had his way with him... or at least that's what Dirge of Cerberus indicates.

The game shown Hojo leaning over Vincent after him being shot. As we can safely assume, performing his own experiments.
The experiment with Chaos was made after the original experiments made by Hojo. Or... so I recall. >.>

hmmmm i don't think that square wants vincent dead, i mean he is a really cool character, no one is arguing there, but immortality? i'm still not sure, i know where you are comming from with the sleeping and everything though i don't know, if he was immortal, then the game would be alot easier, i mean alot easier.... but having said that, how the hell did he sleep so long without ageing, maybe it wasn't actually that long, just a couple of years

(my opinion) i believe that chaos is not a part of vincent but is connect to him by the strange experiments performed on him. i believe that he cannot die because is the legend himself he is chaos i will not be able to die unless the lifestream fails

but that would make him immortal, and vincent didn't sleep in that coffin for that long, he only got the chaos in him, when lucretia implanted it in him, and that other idiot scientist, hojo, as still alive, then you find out that hojo is still alive when you wake vicent valentine up in FFVII,

Actually yes he did. It had to of been right at around 30 years he slept in that coffin and he never aged. He was a Turk protecting Lucrecia 30 years earlier and he sentenced himself to sleep in that coffin after he "failed" Lucrecia. So it makes sense. It wasn't just a matter of a couple of years =/ (as you stated in a previous post) He slept for a VERY long time, 30 years. I believe that the experiements that were performed on him made him damn near immortal. If he weren't, sleeping or not, he still would have aged.
