Lately, I've heard that people are saying that Crisis Core is a good game, but only for fans of the original game. But I think it really rings true. I don't think I'd have ever bought it if I didn't like Final Fantasy VII.
I think that it'd be really confusing if you played Crisis Core, then the original game, so yeah... I'm just going to go ahead and say, yes it is definitely worth getting, but only if you're a Final Fantasy VII fan.
...
or if you really like action RPGs that feature a lot of music with guitar in it.

I like action RPGs that feature music with guitar! This must be game for me
But back on topic, I do believe this game is worth getting, especially if you are a FFVII fan. So many questions are answered, and you will see scenes that make you reminesce about the original FFVII. Though there are flaws, you can easily overlook them just to continue the amazing story. Plus...its Zack! Everyone loves Zack! So, check it out. If you dont, then you are a Zack hater and Derek and I will hunt you down...

Definitely worth a shot, it's the only reason I bothered to get a PSP, and probably one of the very few PSP titles worth playing.
It is a big one for the FFVII fans, but action-wise it does have a lot to offer other people too. Just a shame that non-FFVII fans might have a hard time understanding the story (heck, even hardcore fans don't always understand what's going on )
I liked this introduction to the Action RPG genre, it's made me want to check out other titles. And yes, the Zack-ness of it is a pretty sexy bonus to an already great game

I only played a couple of FF games, and I think that game is worth it + it's the best thing to buy in the PSP since God of War, So yes definitely worth it.

Definitely worth the purchase. Fun gameplay, great music, and awesome story. The story alone is worth the purchase for FF fans but thankfully this game can also be a great introduction for new fans or people that never played FFVII (shame on them by the way ).
Hell, at the 40 dollar price and at 20+ hours worth of gameplay this game has more value than most of the games availabe for the Wii, 360, and PS3.

Very much worth buying.
Reasons:
1. Price- very reasonable
2. The storyline (my main reason for buying)
3. This game takes the PSP to its limits. I have other PSP games but they do not show what the PSP is capable of. CC does!! It flows seamlessly and looks great

Before I say what I have to say, I want to first point this out; for the people who have no idea what the original game is about, I wouldn't recommend that they play this amazing game first. Play FFVII first and THEN play Crisis Core because it will leave you very confused.
Now that being said, do I think this game is worth it? Hell YES I do! This game is absolutely amazing in every aspect. Let me break it down:
Storyline: Absolutely awesome. The story can not only make you laugh or smile, but it can grab at your heartstrings and make you cry. It's filled with warmth, friendship, love, angst, and tragedy all rolled into one.
Characters: Characters...wow! I absolutely LOVE Zack. I love how it sheds light on some things in the original FFVII, like Aerith and Zack's relationship! <3 (soooooo cute!) and so much more about Zack as well. There's also a nice dose of Aerith in this game for you Aerith fans out there. Angeal and Genesis are pretty awesome as well. I really loved Angeal in this game. I don't want to say too much on the characters as I don't want to give anything away.
Gameplay: Loved it. I LOVED the DMW and Zack's limit breaks based on whom ever's face showed up on the DMW, and how it was based on his emotions. I loved that the gameplay wasn't turn-based, but that you could actually control Zack. Yes, the battles are random, but that's okay. At least you aren't sitting there with your PSP in your hands, hitting buttons and waiting for the character to attack. I also loved the materia system in this game and the materia fusion! So awesome!
Music: The music really sets off the mood for each cut-scene, each boss-battle you encounter and each FMV. It really makes you feel what Zack and the other characters are feeling. They re-did Aerith's theme in a guitar style and it's so gorgeous it sends goosebumps down your spine. Really very amazing music. It was so awesome that I ordered the soundtrack.
All in all, I really have no complaints at all about this game. I loved every second of it. The voice acting was surprisingly amazing as well and just blew me away. Zack really expresses himself through his voice and his eyes in this game and it's just awesome. Aerith has a new VA that didn't make her sound like monotone robot and that really made it awesome for each Zack and Aerith scene in the game. I'd highly recommend this game for ANY FFVII fan out there.

Okay, seeing much has been said already, I'll just say this: many of my friends (who have PSPs) loved Crisis Core and would recommend it, even though many didn't even like Final Fantasy, ... I swear it's true. So, yeah, it's a good game with really good graphics (for a PSP game). Besides, all the scenes and music fit perfectly in a way that you can effectively feel what's happening in the game.
So I believe it really is worth it.

Yeah it's worth getting. especially if you have CFW and can download for free. I would say it is the best game to be release for psp so far. but the lack of a free roaming map is so disappointing! maybe the UMD's didn't have enough room?
