I don't know why I have to spell it out when I say it, it's not like my cat understands that she's off to the vets but I always think she will hide if I mention it, although the sight of the cat box might give the game away now

I took Velcro to the vets to get spayed on Monday, i'm not sure who was more traumatised, me or her. I had to get up well early aswel which sucked

She sat panting in the box making me feel well guilty and she shat herself...literally

I dropped her off and I didn't want to leave, my baby was going to get shaved and cut open

I spent all day worrying and when I picked her up I bought her a new pink collar (with diamantes or however you spell it) and some cat treats. I even sent my daughter off to her nannas so she wouldnt get tormented. I felt well bad

She's fine now, just wadering around with a big bald patch and a lampshade on standby incase she tries to chew at her stitches

Gotta go again in 10 days to have the stitches out

Ahhhh I hate the vets...... why does it have to be so traumatic?!

I don't mind the vet so much...though it smells like crap, urine, wet fur and rubbing alcohol there. I sorta like sitting around in the waiting room, checking out other people's pets. Also, there's this badass cat that lives at the vet I go to. It has three legs, one ear, and one eye. I love visiting that messed up little dude.

I don't feel much anxiety when I take the dogs up to get their nuts whacked off. They'll live. Balls are overrated anyway. Besides, it's nice when they come home after getting all drugged up. They just sorta sit around and stay outta my hair. My mom worries, but she has more sympathy for pets than I do.

I don't hate taking my shih-tzu, Harry to the vet. I usually stay outside where the air is normal. The only time I feel like Frisky is after having him vaccinated.. He's very playful (and by playful, I mean tailing me everywhere, including the bathroom and humping the stuffed toys in my room

)

After vaccination, he'd just be lying down and breathing slowly (which scares the hell out of me) for the next 8 hours.

It breaks my heart, really.

She wouldn't even look at me when we got home, she was well mad

She spent most of the evening sulking under the bed. Luckily she got back to normal yestrday and she finally started purring at me again, woohoo. She needs to stop licking her stitches though or that lampshade goes back on

Ugh, and I know what you mean about the smell, it's pretty nasty. Although I was there at 8 am on Monday so it didn't smell that bad this time.

I had to fill in a consent form and one of the questions was like 'description' I was like wot? She's angry and splodgy coloured.......I think I was just meant to put cat there seeing as the next question was to describe the colours and markings.....these things should be more clear first thing in the morning

I hate the smell of the vets. >< I always feel so sorry for my cat when I take him to there, it's mostly when he's lying on the table looking up at me with those puss 'n boots eyes. D: He seems to hate getting injections as much as I do aswell, he shakes like mad when the vet goes near him with a needle, it's really heartbreaking to see. D:

I wasn't there when he got neutered thankgod, but afterwards he was limping about and feeling sorry for himself, it was quite a sad thing to see, yet oddly funny at the same time.

Poor thing.

I don't mind going to the Vet's at all. My first cat was really poorly in the last few years of his life and he ended up going back and forth to the vet all the time for various injections, check-ups and what have ye. It was a nightmare with him - he wasn't just grumpy with cat boxes, he was TERRIFIED. He'd piss in them and everything, because he knew that it meant he'd be going in the car. He hated them because he was a rescue cat ... he was abandoned on a motorway as a kitten. It took the poor SSPCA woman a whole day to save him. He'd let off this awful noise when he got in the car, it almost sounded like "Muuuuuuuuuum!" as if we were killing him. We never ever put him in the cat basket ... so we literally had to run from the car to the door of the vets, otherwise it was a really long, hard chase around the streets of Lochgelly.

I was always interested in animals as a bairn so the vet's always felt quite interesting, hahah. I think that's partially what inspired me to want to become a vet.

I don't mind going to the vets too much 'cause I know it's necessary and that the cats (it's strange how we're all mentioning cats...) will feel better at the end. You know the age old phrase: "you have to be cruel to be kind".

It's also not a good idea to feel scared of the vets yourself as pets can sense fear on humans. If you're calm when you go to the vets, your pet is MORE likely to feel calm to. But if you panic, show guilt, and express fear for your pet, your pet is likely to feel more anxious 'cause it doesn't know what's going on. All it knows is it's trapped in a cage and can't escape; there's no opportunity for fight OR flight, the two survival techniques.
