Cutting back on food is a bad idea!! Sure swapping some cakes for greens helps, but eating a significant amount less makes your body go into "fasting mode", which means it will hold on to any fat at all in your diet instead of burning it, in the end you'll have more that way AARGH!!!
So do eat some cakes every once in a while, just go easy. And your body will chill out and be more responsive to the greens when you eat them ^^
Exercise is really much more important to the loss than eating habits. I've found that when you get exercising you forget about your appetite anyway, especially if it's stuff you enjoy doing. Gyms SUCK!!! They are no fun at all, no fun means more likely to binge afterwards ^^
And green tea of course, on top of all the water Juliet suggested. It will help speed up your metabolism and burn fat faster. Hope I'm helping with all this
