Parants with technology
How are your parants with new technology
Mine are awful with the newest stuff, just a few minutes ago i said could i get my ps2 chiped and my dads like "and put it in the computer?" and im like whaa??
Then minutes after that he said he bought we some thing for the computer (or so he thought ) it ended up being one of those hand held radio things becasue it had scan on one of da buttons and a hole to plug some thing in he just thought it had to do with computer
So how are your parants with techology?

My parent's are none the wiser about computers.
My mom for one knows the basics, but she does everything really slow, even though she's had computer training, and typing help.
My dad's a lot worse. My mom says he's developed a phobia for technology that doesn't allow him to use any technology he's not absolutely familiar with. In fact, he won't even approach anything that's he's unfamiliar with.
But then again, I can't blame any of them, because there are loads of people who act the same way.
I guess it's just the mark of the ages.

My mom's 100% clueless when it comes to the internet, considering the fact that she lives in a 3rd world country. Can't wait to teach her once she arrives here though.
My dad's kinda clueless too when it comes to cell phones and internet. He'd always ask me for help and I'm there thinking, "Jeez, use your common sense! Scroll down, click this, and voila, there you have it!" It's so simple, but the fact tha these stuff are complex for them is kinda hilarious.

My mom is terrible with technology, she has no clue about anything. My dad is pretty noobish when it comes to technology as well. Well, I would say my dad is more of a consumer whore about technology. My dad is the type of guy that when something new and awesome comes out, he buys. Well, he's more into fancy, plasma, high def televisions and surround sound stereos and fancy dvd players that he doesn't use. >:/
I do know a lot more about computers than my parents of course. My parents can barely type or research anything. They no nothing about CPUs , GPUs, cache, etc....

I've managed to get my dad into working a computer efficiently and independently (took about two fucking years though), so he can comfortably use many components which the PC offers. My mother, on the other hand, is a lost cause. I find myself telling her how to do the same thing all the time, and she never admits she just forgot. Bullshit like "I'm too stressed to be doing with computers right now" comes out. Frustrating stuff.
I wouldn't so much mind, but she gets herself in trouble on the internet every week when she shops online. I'm always being forced to go downstairs and sort it out... dumb bitch that she is.
As for other things like DVD players, radio, stereos, and cell phones, they're both quite tolerant when it comes to using one. They fuck up sometimes, but I exempt that.

my parents are okay with technology. they aren't so hot on the way it works, as long as it does work. My great grandma however is the largest suprise, she is 85 and has skype, the internet and messenger software.

My parents arn't too hot with computing but I suppose they're okay. My mums shopping on ebay all the time and I keep on having to come in and help her(which is irritating). I know much more than my dad but he just won't face up to that fact .

50/50 Id say. however I'm definately ruler when it comes to the computer and internet. Whenever something fucks up, I'm to blame, yet they know it IS their own fault. I hate being a scapegoat

Neither of them are very good. My dad is easily much better than my mother but he doesn't understand it's complexities. He acts like he does... but he mainly just looks completely lost and gets really mad when you tell him how to do simple stuff.

My mum used to work with computers all of her days before she had me and then continued to work in Recruitment after I was born, so she knows her way around a computer. She's quite practical and she'll sit down and master how to work some new piece of technology, although she's quite slow at texting.
As for my dad ... well, I think he'd rather go back to using pidgeons for sending messages xD
