The first option sounds better, because it requires far less effort and creativity than option 2. Option 2 would be kind of fun though, but I know it would be really hard to gather enough motivation to get it done.

One thing to note - I've voted in the poll and expressed an interest in participating but if we actually go ahead with this relatively soon then I'm not likely to enter. Exams start on Thursday for me and I'm revising furiously, thus cutting my time online. I'd imagine a few others would be in a similar position.

I am not exactly sure when we will officially start it (perhaps in a week or two, depending on Cerridwen) but we will definitely consider a much wider deadline. We do want you guys to take your time with this afterall. I believe Cerridwen opted for a one month deadline when we were discussing it, but we could consider 6-8 weeks.

That's plenty of time, for me at least. I'm glad about that - I was eager to enter, actually. I never have motivation to finish anything I start writing. This could be it.

Yes, sure, that should be fine. The date can be extended to July 1st. Is that enough time? Guide lines should be up soon, sorry about the long wait on the writing competition. The FFF awards are pulling us back.
