I'm no good at math either. I'm good at Science, History and Spanish. Those are the ones I like the most anyway. Math is lame.

Well they are in this damn Pre-Calculus book that our teacher told us to buy and that we...
rarely used.....
Mathematical Induction is a method for providing that statement involving natural numbers are true for all natural numbers. For example.
If we have the following statement....
1 + 2 + 3 +...+ n = n(n + 1)/2
In which the following two conditions must satisfied:
Condition I: the statement is true for the natural number 1.
Condition II: the statement is true for some natural number K, and it is also true for the next natural number K + 1.
First we show that the formula n(n +1)/2 is true when n = 1
n(n+1)/2 = 1
1 (1 + 1)/2 = 1
1 x 2/2 = 1
2/2 = 1
1 = 1
Then we assume that this formula holds some natural number K. This is our Hypothesis.
n = k
1 + 2 + 3 +...+ k = k(k +1)/2
Finally we need to show that k + 1 is real for all natural numbers:
1 + 2 + 3 +...+ k + (k + 1) = [1 + 2 + 3 +...+ k] + (k + 1)
We replace [1 + 2 + 3 +...+ k] with our hypothesis of mathematical induction, which is k(k + 1)/2
1 + 2 + 3 +...+ k + (k + 1) = k(k + 1)/2 + (k + 1)
= [k^2 + k]/2 + [2(k + 1)/2]
= [k (k + 1) + 2k + 2]/2
= [k^2 + 3k + 2]/2
= [(k + 1)(k + 2)]/2
Since condition two is also satisfied, we conclude that our formula is true for all natural numbers n.
PS: I used ^ to represent the exponent of K, like for example: 3^2 = 3 x 3 = 9

Ah, I understood...I tried it with 2, and the first step ended up with an answer of 3...
Gah...I don't even know what a natural number is...
