Probably not. But I got to say they aren't weak. I remember playing FFX one time and I was about to die on the plains. And along comes a chocobo. ^^ yay I'll go catch it. WRONG!!! It was a higher level then me, went first and used meteor or whatever that move is on me and I died........ I died...... yes....... I died.....

well, chocobos are very very cute and as you know, normally cute things are not tough or strong, so they run away, its just that, its smart enough to know that your party is much stronger

The reason chocobos run away when you try to fight them is because they would kill you (not KO) if they where to attack.

If they were really Cowards then why did a Chocobo become a Team member in 6 or in Tactics.. or if you try to fight one in 7 it could do 9999 damage to you.. Chocobos are peace loving creatures.. But if you get on their bad side, you better watch your splein or Boko might be trying to rip it out of your body..
For anyone to say Chocobos are weak and all.. should walk up to a horse and try to smack it in the face.. cause Chocobos are just like Horses.. The Horse would kick you clear cross the yard.. if you messed with em

I don't think they're either weak or cowards. They just ran away to get the players frustrated since we obviously wanna catch 'em and ride 'em. And of course, I don't think they're weak either. I've fought some chocobos in FFXII and some are actually quite strong.
