I've just read 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 1/3's' and I must say what a classic and side splitting book!

I also have 'True Confessions of Adrian Albert Mole...' and 'Adrian Mole and The Weapons of Mass Destruction' but I don't want to start these until I've read the second (and the rest in the case of WOMD) book in the seires which is 'The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole'. Unfortunaly my local book shop doesnt have it in stock yet

Anyone else a fan of this seires?

I think its best to read them when your a little older than what he is in the book, because half the humour comes from being able to relate in some way or another or at his ignorance to many of lifes complications. i.e. his relationship with Pandora and his 'thing', or believeing to be a intellectual and clearly not.

It's a terrific series, especially the first two books. As infuriating as Adrian is sometimes (especially in his pursuit of Pandora even after they grow up and she loses all interest in him) you do sympathise with the poor guy. The earlier books seem to provide a good snapshot of the UK in the 80s too. The last one got a little bogged down in the whole Iraq war scenario but it's nice to see Adrian Mole still going.

The first two books are essential reading anyway.
