Time

Just a message to anyone who feels down. Time really does heal. I didn't believe it but it's true. The problem is that whatever your pain is, it feels unique to you. So I guess i'm saying take your time and just know that at least one guy has seen happiness through the shades of grey. You will too, trust me. And whoever you are dear reader,, i'm backing you all the way!

There's probably a scientific explanation for that though. Whenever you feel intense emotions, particular chemical imbalances occur in your brain. It seems drastic at first, but I think they eventually reach equilibrium again, and when the offset balance restores itself, the pain you felt goes away gradually. It's merely just because of chemicals that you feel it, and for the same reason, it goes away.

It's amusing though, really. That people feel these things, yet it is only mere chemicals that make them do that. If there was a way to control them otherwise, people wouldn't be depressed for as long.

In a weird way, that's a very comforting way to look at it. If you break it down into a simple biological function, it doesn't seem as bad. I do that whenever I'm sick and throwing up. I just keep thinking "it's only reverse peristalsis; it's not that bad." Unfortunately, it's hard to keep a cool head when very upset about a situation. While it's true that time does heal most wounds, at the time, it doesn't seem like it will ever stop hurting.

...As for controlling chemicals in the brain...that's what anti-depressants do. People no longer need to feel emotional pain-- they have a pill to cure it! Honestly, I would never take something like that. Except for certain cases, I think it's wrong to mess around with a brain's chemistry. Not to mention, many people end up feeling emotionally flat when on anti-depressants. I really wouldn't want to depend on a pill for my happiness.

There probably are side-effects to trying to alter the brain chemicals unnaturally, which is why pills don't always work. However, I still don't think it's impossible. It's just easier to figure out such a solution if we could know exactly what was going on. Like why altering the brain chemicals like that would be unhealthy.

Anti-depressants suck. I've only taken two kinds, but one didn't do anything, and the other worked for about a month and then made my depression get WORSE. Sooo...I'm not trying those again. But I've learned to cope better anyway, so I don't really need them.

"Time heals all wounds". While it is a very catchy phrase, I wouldn't say all wounds. Probably most, but sometimes time isn't always the answer for some people. For some, time actually worsens things. I'm not trying to debate matters with you, but simply just trying to voice out what I think based on my own experience and what I've seen in others' lives.

In the end, it's all really up to that individual to let go of any pain in their lives and move on. Time is simply passing moments in one's life and in turn, it gives us comfort that there is a high probability that we'd learn to forget the pain and heal our wounds. But time is indeed our helpful guide through it all if we choose to have the mindset that time heals wounds.

Hmm, an interesting way to look at it. I'd say that it's true for some, but not all wounds. Some can never heal.
In time, alot of the pain goes away. It is a good idea to take some time off from the world every so often. That's what holidays should be for.

Its abit hard to think that it's only chemicals making you feel that way when you feel like shite

Time IS a great healer tho. Some things just take longer than others to heal. )Or at least, not hurt as much as it did once =/
