Iraq in the eyes of the people

Okay, this is a serious topic obviously....what do you really think of Iraq right now, and I don't mean the military state of it, just your views on what you think the present state of Iraq is right now.
How do you feel about Iraq?

I think that the present state of Iraq, that is, the looming, if not already occurring 'civil war', is just making it worse for everyone involved, and worst of all, it has found its roots in the force that was supposed to keep the country peaceful in the first place.

I think the people are tired and restless, not rebellious, and they just want this to end. The extremists however....

Anyways, discuss, post your thoughts.

Anything short of absolutely horrendous should be fine.
Remember, it's opinions.

Iraq will make it at the end i reckon... Look at the japanese Imperial Army in the second world war. In my views they were the biggest and one of the most powerful terrorist organisations, simply basing on what we classify as terrorists today and that they tortured POW's and did all sorts of horrible stuff to civillians...

japan is now a great country, despite having been bombed, look at them now... democratic governemnt, great economy.

Iraq might one day be at this level.

Remember, Iraq has great historical facts behind it... so it has potential to be a great tourist place.

Most countries have experienced pretty bad times... even the States with the civil war, battle with the British... Germany was takin by the allies and weell look at the countries now...

We already know the answer to this. We already HAVE known the answer for 5 frigging years. Iraq is a backwater country in the Middle East with a corrupted government and abused religious policies. Any attempt to make it a clone of the US is futile, so unless we want to throw billions of dollars and thousands of lives away, we should avoid it at all costs.

Duh...

It's a goddamn mess. The joke of an Iraqi democracy we've attempted to creat is hardly willing to help themselves, and the country is in complete shambles. The Iraqi people preferred Husseins government to this; it might not be apparent due to the biased media, but its true. Thankfully, with the most recent bill the US passed, there's not only a spending limit on our situation in Iraq, but benchmarks essentially telling their government that if they don't help themselves, we're not going to use any more money. In a sense, I hope they don't help themselves, so a pullout is possible and we can wash our hands of this situation.
