Criticism

Can you stand criticism?

I personally can't, no matter how much I try to hide it, it just wells up in me to an extent in which I just look away, or pretend to be keenly interested in my shoes.
It's just tough taking criticism, even the moderate kind, for me. I'm proud of my work even though I say that I think that my creations 'suck', or something of the like.

But even so, it's like someone saying bad things about a good friend, or a family member....for me anyway. >.>

So question is, how far does a person have to go 'til you just can't take his or her criticism?
Does it hurt for you?
Or do you take it as it goes? Even the harshest 'Cowell-esque' type critiques.

I dont like it but i try to take it. Unless its just ridiculous. Then i get pissed.

For the most part I can take criticism but I always demand respect. I don't mind anyone telling me that I've done something wrong but I really don't take shit if I'm not told an opinion in a decent tone. It's just human decency that you convey yourself rationally before being a complete dick to someone.

I'm pretty much the same as what Aztec's said. I'm allright with being criticised, but I can't be arsed with it if there's no sense behind it. Or a good reason.

EDIT:
Although, I believe that respect goes both ways and must be earned, not demanded.

I actually welcome criticisms, as long as it helps you out in the end. For instance, artworks. I've received many criticisms and I usually ask for them so I can do better the next time.

But if it's something that involves your dignity, then I wouldn't really take it lightly. Reason being that I know there are people out there who would just criticize others just for the heck of it, or hurt them intentionally. If that was the case, I simply ignore the person and won't have anything to do with them.

Even when criticism is constructive, I seem to have an intolerance for it. I respect the fact that most criticism made towards me is constructive and... fairly polite, but there's always that itching in the back of my head which makes me want to tell them where to shove their opinions. xD

I just don't acknowledge irrational criticism. Not worth my time.

it completely depends on what type of criticism and how it is being relayed, if it is for instance about my hair or clothes and someone says "your hair is stupid brown! it should be red because that is popular" it really isnt good criticism because it has no reason apart from its popularity, so i tend to avoid popularity and just be me, as noone can give me any criticism which is intelligent enough to notice

so yeah, if i hate it i either ignore it or i challenge it

well if its any1 except my boss at work theyre gonna get an earfull.
No way id stand theyre and take sum1 critisizing me, i quite like arguing so il always say sumthin back.
But when my boss critisizes my work i just sit and nod

That's actually a good point ... your boss is one person you're kind of obliged to take some criticism from. Although, at the end of the day, you should still get some kind of courtesy or respect.
