Confessing and Admitting
Why is it so hard to confess things, much less admitting things to people?
Is it because we fear the consequences of that action, more so than we do other, possibly more important things, or is it because we'd like to hang on to parts of ourselves that we don't want to reveal?
Or is it something totally different?
I've never openly confessed anything in my life, I prefer people find out things about me on my own. I rarely ever succumb to pressure, though if it seems that I do, I most likely am not, rather, I seem to 'confess' things that I actually want out.
The only time that I can remember confessing was at my First Communion at school about 7 years back.
Admitting things is also quite a challenge to overcome. People always seem to deny things for long periods of time before finally admitting something has happened. But when they accept things, it all goes easier. Don't you think that if they did that sooner, it would be better for their sake sooner as well?
Thoughts?

When I was in the Airforce cadets, I had a leadership role and one of the most important things to be able to do is admit you were wrong depending on the mistake.
So I can admit I was wrong in most cases

Confessing = you get in trouble no matter what
Not confessing = you don't get in trouble unless you get caught
Pretty easy to figure out what gives you better odds, don't you think?

This is the kind of thread I was waiting for
Sure not confessing avoids getting in trouble, but having to live and deal with your conscience is far worse. There are many types of confession, and personally I say that the hardest is confessing what you feel to the person you love (here I come again....her...*sighs*).
Perhaps is cowardice, who knows, but I am sure that ever since I last saw her without being able to confess what I felt for here sure is killing me, and has become a serious and constant attack against my heart (no I don't have a heart condition so no heart attacks).
Eeach day I wake up thinking if I should just tell her, though knowing, or at least, having an idea of what could happen afterward is killing me as well.
And I know, is cowardice....and that's something that keeps hurting me like a thousand knives piercing my weakened heart....

If I did something wrong that would cost me my ass if anyone found out, I'd keep it to myself.
I've done it before. I can lie to anyone with a straight face, and not regret a thing. I've trained my conscience to the point where confessing something I've done wrong doesn't even cross my mind. I am an expert at lying, and I don't think anyone can topple me in that department.

Also, not confessing and getting caught could lead to more trouble than confessing in the first place depending what the confession is about.

It's worst living with your conscience tormenting you for something you were supposed to say and couldn't do it or just simply refused to admit it.
Believe me, it's harder to think when the memories of something that one was supposed to say were kept for ourselves...

Like Zidane said, it's probably better in the first place to confess immediately rather than hide it on, because you'd be forced to make up lies about it and then eventually get wrapped in it...so much so that you either you lose touch with reality, or you fool yourself and believe in it.
The truth comes out eventually, unless you're really really careful and good about keeping such a tormenting secret.
Anyways, confessing things just gets things off your chest.
Though it may get you in trouble, so what? Helps your mood in the long run.
Though of course, some secrets are best left untold.
