If Light was as smart as you say he would have predicted what Ryuk was planning from the beginning,but Light underestimated him because Ryuk was a Shinigami.As we all have noticed Light was very arrogant,thinking too high of himself.He based everything on plans,but that's what his mistake was.He didn't have time to keep an eye on Ryuk(the exact opposite of Light).
I have to say that Ryuk just as Joker never made any plans,they only did what they felt like at the moment and that's why we love 'em.

Shame on you Minns.Near trusted you and you let him down(watch out he's using the death note)

Could somebody tell me why the author of DN decided to make his characters have weird habits(such as sitting in weird position,or eat chocolate to come to a conclusion etc.)?I read that the author himself(Tsugumi Ohba) sits in the way L does,because it gives him ideas(exactly the same reason as L).
Anybody got more info?

*well i disagree my friend, although Ryuk is just being a joker and an errand boy to Kira, i think Light already considered himself "cursed" just bcause of having the death note. furthermore using the death note he already accepted consequence that hed possibly die or somthing worse like not being in heaven or hell just a vanished soul.

No,he didn't.Because if you've read the manga then you know that Light begged Ryuk to save him and to kill the others.

Hmm best character to me would have to be Mello. Not only did he escape dying from a burning building he planted the seeds that basically got Kira caught. Second up though will have to be Near just for outsmarting Kira.

More people like L than Light? *cries*

I really loved Light, and Death Note's most awesome thing was his unique character. L was cool too, as were Misa and Ryuk, but yeah, Light is definitely the favourite among my favourties XD

As a newcomer to the series (and manga in general), and I've only
read Volumes 1-5 it's between Yagami Raito-san, and L.

Yagami Raito-san seems to be one step ahead of the game, and might
I mention he's a genius. He's quite the mastermind.

L is also quite intelligent, and constantly has his head on a swivel.
He's quirky, and out of this world, real mellow, and laid back..
He reminds me of a stereotypical stoner.

I'm sure I'll make a definitive decision the more I read.
When I do I'll be sure to post it here.
