Maybe it wasn't even Jenova's head, did you ever once hear Kadaj, Yazoo or Loz say they were looking for Jenova's head? they just said "Where's Mother?" all the time, It could easily be any part of Jenova. Also, Kadaj would have had to have held something solid whilst falling, DNA is microscopic so no chance of that being in the box.

Jenova's head was all that was left of Jenova in FFVII. 2 years later there wouldn't be more of her... it was her head.

actually there is a reference to it being Jenovas head - and i quote from Reno
